SocialStudiesSocieity

I would join National Conucil for the Social Studies socieity becasue it is the largest association in the US. NCSS serves as an unbrella organization for elementary, secondary, and college teachers over a wide seletion of subjects. It is good to have the largest association behind something you are in as it can offer a lot more learning opportunities. I also like that the NCSS is based on something that is in every school, as it is Social studies, meaning the way people socialize. I it is good because it will help me understand more in depth of the social relevant disciplines provided through the NCSS framework. Another reason I would join is because there are thousands of educators already involved, which shows to me that their are more people like me who believe it is important to know and learn the information provided from the NCSS. More people and more interest for educators says to me 'we all in this together so lets all help and do whats best'.

Face-To-Face Feedback

Feedback

Today in class we tried Face-to-Face feedback on each others Zooburst designs. I feel Face-to-Face feedback is better than reading someones notes because you can tell by there body language and how they speak, what they truly thought. Its easy to look at someones work and write comments about it. But as a reader of comments you could misunderstand what they are trying say. You may think they are being negative and blunt by reading comments. Instead hearing what they have to say and how they say it can make a huge difference. Good communication between two people can become more of an relaxed feedback. I'd rather sit with someone and talk about some problems instead of reading feedback.

Multiple Intelligence

Multiple Intelligence

After a whole class on multiple intelligence my thought and feelings are the same, I already knew the different stages of learning. I am a very strong believer in all methods of teaching as I feel it is the strongest and most positive way of learning. Everybody is different, meaning they all learn differently. Only a select few are able to pick a book read it once and remember all of it. As you can imagine I am not one of those students, and i have found it hard at times to get grades because of reading test etc. Anything hands or visual I feel I am more cable of dealing with and you can test me on that all day long.

Below is my scores and a bar chart I have completed.

Upgrade on my Idea

My blog activity would start with basic questions about new and exciting events that have previously happened. I would always keep changing the questions though and not always "How was your weekend? what did you do that was different from last weekend"?

For My Future Students

For my future students I think setting up a blog would a great idea, now I know how to do it. I would incorporate blogging into my classes by making it a fun activity once or twice a week. I'd let my students start off by blogging about something they have experienced that weekend or about something new/different/exciting (just to get the ball rolling). After that I would have a blog of my own that they could comment on. My blog would be about learning objectives for that week so the students can see what we are learning & comment on it. There comments can be about anything, from looking forward to learning it or something they may not be comfortable with. Also I would have learning questions that they will have to try and answer at the end of the week so I could monitor how much they learned. I could motor my own teaching level/success. The main objective of having it in the order I do is because some students may not want to blog if it’s about boring old school, so to get their brains engaged with blogging about something they did may be the trick.
